<== An Outsider Look at HIVE ==>

FoodiesUnite

I am writing unsolicited reviews for web sites that interface with the HIVE Blockchain.

In yesterday's review I looked at alt-coin that was struggling. The top ten investors in TIX controlled 99% of the coin. These investors upvoted each other's posts creating an imbalance distribution of rewards. The coin itself was worthless.

Today, I will look at Foodies BeeHive. This tribe trades the FOODIE token and has the domain FoodiesUnite.net. The tribe give rewards on posts with the tags FOODIE, FOOD and RECIPES.

My first observation is that this HIVE Tribe has a huge amount of content that is relevant to the primary topic of the site: Food. The site features a huge number of recipés from around the world along with an occasional restaurant review.

My guess is that people on the site are aggressively down voting spam.

Examining the FOODIE Richlist I see that the tribe has a decent distribution of tokens. There are a few accounts hoarding 100k tokens. They have several hundred accounts that stake between 1,000 and 10,000 tokens.

The number of tokens a person stakes determines the value of one's upvote. My personal account (@yintercept) has 1385 FOODIE. These tokens have a market value of $1.34. My upvote is worth 0.14.

To be honest, I am not much of a foodie. I tend to subsist on the cheapest food that I can find in the local store. If I were a dedicated foodie, I would seriously consider investing a few hundred dollars in this token.

The FOODIE token currently has a supply of just 15 million tokens. Users have staked 55% of the tokens. The surprising thing is that the token seems to be trading at a bargain basement price. When I wrote this review, Hive-Engine showed the token was trading at 0.00316 HIVE. HIVE is trading at $0.308 USD, meaning that the FOODIE was worth just $0.00097 USD.

Since this appears to be a fairly well run "tribe" this is one of the few tokens that I would consider a value in the HIVE universe.

The ScotBot Configuration page shows the token gives a 50/50 split between authors and curators.
