Quicken

Quicken is a leading provider of personal financial software. The Quicken suite of products can help you figure out just where you money is going, and you can use the Quicken bundled with Turbo Tax to quickly file your taxes each year.

The site includes many specialty products like the Property Tax module that handles the accounting for any rental properties you might have or the Medical Expense Manager that helps you do the complex accounting required in today's health market.

Most of the Quicken products are designed to run on your home or small business PC. The site also offers an online edition. I favor this route as you are able to access it on the road, and don't have to worry about losing your financial information if your computer is stolen, or breaks down. The online edition even has special features for accessing your accounts via your iPhone.

If your small business has employees, or you need a more robust system for generating invoices, you might consider using the QuickBook line of products.

Quicken is owned by Intuit of Mountain View, Ca. The company trades on the NASDAQ with the symbol INTU.

Mint.com is a free online financial management package. Mint.com was developed by Aaron Patzer and was acquired by Intuit and integrated with the Quicken suite of programs in 2009.
