LEGO.com

LEGO.com offers a selection of interlocking plastic blocks that are fun for constructive play!

The company was founded by Ole Kirk Christiansen (1891-1958) who began making wooden toys in 1932. His company began making plastic toy blocks in 1949 inspired by the toy blocks patented by Kiddicraft in 1939. Christiansen's son Godtfred became a managing junior director of the store who helped design the modern LEGO system released in 1958.

The company began adding little toy men to increasingly imaginative LEGO toy sets in 1978.

Most toy departments carry small sections of LEGO toys or LEGO branded apparel. The LEGO.com web site lets you order from a wide selection of LEGO toy sets. You can also order individual blocks and characters which is great if you are working on a LEGO based art project or creating a larger LEGO model.

LEGO blocks are often used in stop-animation. Many of the animations have LEGO characters in strange situations. I like the video below which just uses plain blocks.
