Domino's Pizza

Domino's Pizza traces it's history to 1960 when Tom and James Monaghan bought Domi-Nick's Pizza next to Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti for $75 and a $500 loan. Tom later bought out James for a Volkswagon Beetle. (See Domino's Timeline.

The company began franchising in 1967. They crossed the 1,000 store mark and opened their first international store in 1983. The company introduced the Pan Pizza and opened their 5,000th store in 1989.

The chain has since grown to over 10,000 stores in 70 countries and all 50 states. They are still headquartered in Ypsilanti and trade on the NYSE with symbol DPZ.
