McCarthy Building Company
Established 1864, McCarthy Construction is an employee owned construction company that was established Timothy McCarthy in Ann Arbor, Mi. His son moved to Missouri and current headquarters are in St. Louis.
The company has worked on numerous large scale construction projections including hospitals, industrial and civic construction projects at diverse locations including the Panama Canal and Anchorage, Ak.
MC Industrial, Inc. is a spin off company that concentrates on industrial construction.

- 1864: Timothy McCarthy, father of ten, started company in Ann Arbor, Mi that built farmhouses and barns.
- 1877: McCarthy built a family home after their log cabin burned down.
- 1890: John W. McCarthy moved with wife to her hometown in Farmington, Mo.
- 1907: Timothy Jr. and John McCarthy incorporate as McCarthy Construction Company.
- 1917: Business relocates to St. Louis, Mo.
- 1926: Company changes name to McCarthy Brothers Construction Company.
- 1945: McCarthy acquired Rock Hill Quarries in St. Louis.
- 1959: Grandson of founded John E. McCarthy becomes CEO.
- 1971: Mike McCarthy becomes CEO.
- 1979: company acquired TGK Constructors based in Phoenix.
- 1982: McBro had more than 275 employees working in 32 states.
- 1984: Roger Burnet becomes CEO.
- 1996: McCarthy starts an employee stock ownership program.
- 1999: McBros changes its name to McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. to recognize growing employee ownership.
- 2002: The company transforms from a family owned to an employee owned structure.
- 2005: The organization creates a separate company called MC Industrial, Inc. which services industrial clients.
- 2014: company acquired Castle Contracting.
