RDO Equipment is a nationwide dealer of agricultural and industrial equipment. The company was founded by Ronald D Offutt as a John Deere Dealership. They now offers a wide selection of agricultural, irrigation and industrial equipment.

RD Offutt Farms is a leading potato producer with 50,000 acres in production.

This section lists select corporate events in the company's history. The company has grown through acquisition and expansion. Many of the acquisitions are single dealerships. The farming side of the business has complex relations with Lamb Weston and ConAgra which. I could not find reliable information for this side of the business online.

• 1968: Ronald D. Offut purchased an equipment store in Casselton, ND to create R.D. Offutt Company.
• RDO Equipment Co. expands into the construction equipment industry.
• 1970: Offut started an irrigated potato farm in Hubbard County, Minnesota.
• 1976: Offutt bought the Rockefeller Ranch in Texas. The cows got sick and the potato crop failed.
• 1980?: Offutt acquired a potato processing plant in Park Rapids, ND to create RDO Frozen Foods.
• 1997: RDO held an IPO with 32 stores. The IPO sold 42 million shares for $68.3 million.
• 1997: RDO Rental Co. acquired Sun Valley Equipment Corp. for $8.1 million.
• 1997: RDO created RDO Mack Sales and Service to sell, service and lease transportation equipment.
• 1997: RDO created RDO Financial Services division.
• 1997: RDO acquired Kuenstler Machinery.
• 2000: RDO sold its 12 rental stores to United Rental.
• 2003: RDO re-acquired all outstanding shares for $6.01 per share and goes private.
• 2014: RDO creates its RDO Water division which sells irrigation equipment.
• 2018: RDO acquired Evergreen Implement which was founded in 1966 by Roger Thieme in 1966 and had five stores in Washington.
