United Airlines

United Airlines is among the largest airlines in the world with 500 planes reaching 110 destinations. United Express contracts with regional carriers such as Sky West to reach smaller markets.

Fly Ted is a new low cost carrier division for United. Fly Ted offers no frills economy guaranteed low price air fare through certain popular hubs such as Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington DC, etc..

UAL's web site includes a detailed history page and information on the company's community involvement.

For many years, UAL was a poster child for employee ownership. Prior to its bankruptcy in 2002, UAL was 55% employee owned. That figure dropped to 20% in 2002 (biz journals). Employee ownership has the sad effect of magnifying hard times for workers.

Currently, United is going through a reorganization process. It's stock trades over the counter with the symbol UALAQ.OB.
