Potbelly Sandwich Work
Potbelly Sandwich Works is an expanding chain of restaurants serving fresh deli sandwiches.
The company was founded in 1977 by Peter Hastings of Chicago in retail space that he had previously used as an antique shop. The store used some of the antiques as furnishings.
The original store was purchased by Bryant Keil in 1996. Keil began a phase of aggressive expansion.
American Securities invested in the firm from 2006 through its IPO in 2013 on the NASDAQ with the symbol PBPB. The stock doubled after its IPO but fell back below the IPO price shortly thereafter.
The company had 424 stores with the majority corporate owned by August 2017.
