Washington Federal is a Seattle based banking firm that trades on the NASDAQ with the symbol: WAFD.
The company began as Ballard Savings and Loan. Bollard acquired a company called Washington Federal Savings and Loan and changed its name. The company survived the collapse of the FSLIC in the 1980s. It adopted its corporate holding structure in 1995.
