Terracon
Established in 1965, Terracon is a nationwide employee-owned engineering firm with over 150 offices and 4500 staff. The headquarters are in Olathe, Ks.
Engineering specialties include: Environmental, Facilities, Geotechnical and materials. They work with public and private entities in a variety of fields including geothermal, disaster response, aquatics and more. Here is a fun video about the importance of imagination in engineering.

The Terracon Companies page lists subsidiaries and when they joined the firm. It appears that the bulk of the company's growth took place this last decade.
- 1965: The company was founded as Soil Testing Services of Iowa, Inc. in Iowa.
- 1980: The company moved to Olathe, Ks and took the name Terracon Consultants, Inc. with the mandate to remain 100% percent employee-owned. (ref)
- 2007: JGI Eastern, Inc. joined the firm in 2007 and changed its name to "Terracon" in 2009 (ref)
- 2008: NTL Engineering & Geoscience of Great Falls, Mt joined the firm in 2008 and changed their name to Terracon in 2013.
- 2010: ESA Energy Systems Associates, Inc. of Round Rock Texas joined the firm in 2010 and changed its name to "Terracon" in 2013.
- 2010: Stafford Consulting Engineers of Raleigh, NC, established in 1964, joined Terracon.
- 2012: IHI Environmental with offices in Salt Lake City, Emeryville, Denver and Phoenix joined Terracon.
- 2012: Nodarse & Associates, Inc. joined the firm in 2012 and changed its name to "Terracon" in 2013.
