Rogue Wave was an independent software development firm. It is named after a phenomena in which the peaks of waves combine to create mega waves.
- 1989: Company founders created a c++ library called Math.h++.
- 1990: Company moved to Corvallis, Or and released Tools.h++.
- 1996: Rogue Wave held an IPO on NASDAQ with the symbol RWAV.
- 2003: Quovadx acquired Rogue Wave.
- 200?: Battery Ventures acquired Quovadx.
- 2009: Company acquired Visual Numerics which developed IMSL Numerical Libraries and PV-WAVE.
- 2010: Company acquired Acumem which made Threadspotter performance software.
- 2012: Company acquired ILOG C++ from IBM.
- 2013: Company acquired OpenLogic.
- 2014: Rogue Wave acquired Klocwork. Klocwork was developed by Nortel Networks and spun out as an Ottawa based company in 2001.
- 2015: Rogue Wave moved its location to Louisville, Co.

History of Zend Technologies
- 1997: Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski created a parser for PHP.
- 1998: ZEev and aNDi created a second parser which they renamed Zend Engine by taking parts of their first names.
- 1999: The company incorporated as Zend Technologies which was financed by Israeli based Platinum Neurone Ventures and Walden Israel.
- 2006: Zend raised $20 million in series D funding.
- 2016: Rogue Wave acquired Akana which makes API management software.
- 2017: Rogue Wave acquired ZeroTurnaround.
- 2019: Rogue Wave spun of Zend Framework to the Linux Foundation.
