The Newell web site says they have over 150 brands. There site listed 40 major brands.

- 1920: The Wooster Rubber Company started making toy balloons in Wooster, Oh.
- 1934 Wooster Rubber merged with Rubbermaid (which was founded in 1933. Their first product was a dust pan). The merger created Wooster Rubber Company with a line called Rubbermaid.

Jarden was spun off of Ball Corporation so that the main company could concentrate on aerospace. They traded on the NYSE with the symbol: JAH
- 1993: Ball Corporation spun off its canning business as a new company called Alltrista Corporation.
- 2002: Alltrista changed its name to Jarden.
- 2002: Jarden acquired Tilia International which held the Foodsaver brand for approximately $160 million.
- 2003: Jarden acquired the Diamond Match Company for approximately $108 million.
- 2003: Jarden acquired Lehigh Consumer Products Corporation for approximately $155 million which owned the Crawford, Lehigh, and Leslie-Locke brands.
